There are three important things that we address
Jakarta Provincial Government and National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), discussed cooperation in disaster management and anticipation at BNPB Office, Jalan Pramuka Kav 38, East Jakarta, Tuesday (12/27).
Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono said together with BNOB, his party discussed more optimal disaster management cooperation in Jakarta, including preparedness in anticipating potential hazards ahead of the New Year.
BMKG: Jakartans May See Extreme Weather During Christmas and New Year"We already discussed earlier, there are three important things that we address," he expressed.
In the first point, BNPB suggested implementing weather modification technology (TMC) and re-mapping the vulnerability to flooding disasters, in January and February 2023.
Then the second point is about BNPB's suggestion to plan an earthquake-resistant building concept of up to 7 on the Richter Scale (SR) for local government-owned buildings such as schools, hospitals, and so forth.
"Because we have learned from other cities, many disasters have caused quite large losses. With a building design like that, prevention can be planned as early as possible," he explained.
The last point was about flood disasters, where the Jakarta Government and BNPB Head will monitor three locations that are prone to flooding in early 2023.
BNPB Head, Let. Gen. TNI Suharyanto added that his party was intensely coordinating with the Jakarta Government in handling and anticipating flood disasters.
"With relatively high rainfall, Jakarta has the potential for annual floods, thus we must respond and anticipate it," he continued.
He added that Jakarta also needs to anticipate earthquakes, even though there are no volcanoes but based on historical experience Jakarta also has the potential for earthquakes.
"This matter also needs to be addressed to determine the steps we have to carry out, especially in the prevention phase. The end of 2022 is preparation for high rainfall in January-February. Of course, we don't want a flood." he concluded.
